Distributed Multi-Site

Federate two training centres and a live range into one mission across a classified boundary — shared tactical picture, shared clock, one distributed debrief.

Two training centres and a live range, fused into one mission across a security boundary.

Two training centres and a live range need to run one exercise — one shared tactical picture, one shared timeline, one shared debrief — across a network and a classified/unclassified boundary. Run separately, they produce three disconnected events that never quite line up. The Arena federates the sites into a single coherent mission and keeps the security posture explicit at every step, so geographically separated participants train as if they were in the same room.

Plan

Planning is collaborative across sites. Each centre's staff works its part of the same mission — one shapes the friendly package, another the opposing force and the threat laydown — while a shared mission picture stays current for everyone. Live range assets are registered on the unclassified side and scoped into the scenario. The cross-domain posture is chosen and recorded up front: what may move from the classified side to the range, and what status may come back.

Brief

A single shared brief aligns participants at both centres and the range on one mission picture. Readiness checks then span the whole federation — site links, time synchronisation, the constructive forces, the datalink paths, the range adapters, and recording — so the exercise starts only when every site and the range are confirmed ready.

Execute

The exercise runs as one mission across the sites. The centres are federated so entities, tracks, and events from each appear in the others' picture, with data filtering keeping the traffic clean and within each link's bandwidth. A common time reference keeps live, simulated, and recorded timelines aligned. The shared tactical datalink picture preserves force separation, and range assets are commanded across the cross-domain boundary according to the chosen posture — one-way drive with limited status return, or a controlled two-way exchange — while live monitoring catches any degraded link in the moment.

Debrief

A single distributed debrief reconstructs the one exercise across both centres and the range: synchronised replay, the tactical picture each side saw, the engagements, and the range contributions, all on the same timeline. Because the sites shared a clock and a common recording discipline, the result is one coherent after-action story rather than three separate reports stitched together.

Different locations, one exercise

Two training centres and a live range. Different locations, with one training objective. Air Combat Arena brings them together around a shared mission picture, a common timeline and a joint debrief.

Plan and brief together

Each team prepares its part of the same scenario. Changes stay in the shared mission picture, so the brief aligns participants across the centres and the range.

Connected sites, aligned time

During execution, the sites exchange exercise entities, tracks and events. A common time reference keeps the live, simulated and recorded timelines aligned as the mission unfolds.

Connect the range with control

Range equipment joins through the agreed connections and adapters. Where security boundaries apply, the deployment defines what information can cross, and which commands and status reports are permitted.

Keep the exercise coherent

The control team monitors the connected exercise. Data filtering and technical monitoring help keep the picture usable, while each force retains the tactical information appropriate to its role.

Debrief across distance

After the run, the teams debrief together across locations. Synchronised replay brings the tactical picture, engagements and range contributions into the same timeline, so everyone can review the same event.

One mission, shared lessons

Connect your training centres and range into one coherent exercise, and turn a shared mission into shared lessons with Air Combat Arena.
