F-16 Full Mission Simulator: emergency procedure training
How the ArenaLogic F-16 Full Mission Simulator (FMS) builds emergency procedure proficiency: detailed aircraft systems, instructor-controlled malfunctions, more than 400 emergency-procedure combinations and a 280-degree visual system.
Film transcript
No time to learn
When an emergency occurs in flight, there is no time to learn. The pilot must recognise the situation, understand what is happening inside the aircraft, and execute the correct procedure in the correct order.
The F-16 Full Mission Simulator
The ArenaLogic F-16 Full Mission Simulator builds that proficiency in a realistic and controlled environment. Pilots can practise demanding situations repeatedly, without using aircraft hours and without waiting for rare events to occur in the air.
Realistic aircraft behaviour
Realistic procedure training depends on realistic aircraft behaviour. ArenaLogic models the electrical, hydraulic, fuel, engine, flight-control and environmental systems in detail. A failure develops through the aircraft, changes the indications, and responds to every action taken by the pilot.
Instructor Operator Station
From the Instructor Operator Station, the instructor can introduce a malfunction at any point in the mission. Timing, severity and relevant parameters can be adjusted while aircraft systems, cockpit displays and pilot actions are monitored in real time.
More than 400 emergency-procedure combinations
More than 400 emergency-procedure and parameter combinations cover the full training syllabus. A routine sortie can become an engine failure, an electrical problem, a hydraulic emergency or an abnormal landing within seconds. Each scenario can be varied so the pilot must understand the system, rather than memorise a single sequence.
A 280-degree visual system
Five high-resolution visual channels surround the pilot with more than 280 degrees of horizontal field of view. Day, night, instrument and adverse-condition training take place in the same environment, with the visual cues needed to recognise and manage an emergency.
Part of the wider training programme
The same platform supports normal procedures, systems familiarisation, instrument flying and tactical missions. It can connect with other simulators, GCI and networked training environments, allowing procedure training to remain part of the wider operational training programme.
Proven training technology
ArenaLogic technology supports 27 simulators across eight simulation centres. Every trainer shares the same evolving software core, so improvements developed across the user base can strengthen the platform over time.
Available today
The F-16 Full Mission Simulator is available today, with delivery planned within three months of production start. Train the procedure. Understand the aircraft. Be ready when it matters. ArenaLogic.
